The “I Want to Change My Life” Challenge: 90 Days to a Brand New Life

Welcome to the “I want to change my life” 90 day Challenge.

If you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired and you’re ready for a “life makeover,” this simple 90 day challenge is the perfect place to start.

i want to change my life Month One: Getting Physical

The quickest way to explode your energy, your self-confidence and your motivation and to prepare yourself for an epic life change is to get physically active and to start changing your eating habits. Changing your career or your relationships or your financial life is much harder and will take a lot of confidence, determination and perseverance.

But you’re in 100% control of what you eat and how much you exercise, so this is the quickest way to get traction on your new life and boost your confidence. Even if you don’t have access to the gym or if you’ve never exercised before, you can start by going for a brisk walk or a run.

Start with just one minute the first day. The next day, go for two minutes, then three, then four and then five. Next, add some strength training by doing one push up the first day, then two the second day, then three, then four. By the end of your first 30 days, you’ll be running or walking for 20 to 30 minutes every day and doing at least 30 push ups.

Next, add one serving of any of the following vegetables to your diet: beets, carrots, broccoli, kale, spinach, cauliflower. Then, cut out all drinks except water and start drinking one once of water for every 2 lbs of your body weight.

Finally, stand in front of the mirror every morning and every evening, look yourself directly in the eye and say this affirmation:

“I am lean, strong, and energetic and I value my physical appearance.”

Even if you don’t believe this right now, keep saying it. Training the heart and mind to believe is just like training the body to lift heavy weights: you have to start right where you are and keep working at it until your body catches up with you.

Month Two: Find New Associations

By the second month of the “I Want to Change My Life” 90 day challenge, you’ll start gaining enough self-respect to take a serious look at your relationships and decide which ones have to go and which kinds of relationships need to replace them. This isn’t about finding the love of your life; it’s about surrounding yourself with people who will encourage you to become a better person.

The best way to do this is to find places where people who are interested in personal growth hang out. This can be a book club, a networking group, a yoga class, a school for ballroom dance or a foreign language class at a local university. Just find a place where people are going for the sake of learning something new or improving their lives in some way.

If you don’t start finding these people, you’ll be left trying to change the people who are already in your life, which is a real energy drainer. Most people, though they may mean well, will not be comfortable with you making a drastic change in your life. Some of them will try to hold you back, even if it’s just subconsciously.

Trying to fight or persuade them will just hold you back. Focus instead on creating new alliances and let the people who are in your life decide whether or not they’re going to embrace your new change. You might be surprised at the indirect, positive influence this have on them.

Finally, stand in front of the mirror every morning and every evening, look yourself directly in the eye and say this affirmation:

“I am charming, emotionally healthy and I am surrounded by people who support me and my dreams.”

Again, even if you don’t believe this right now, keep saying it. The more you affirm this to yourself, the easier it will be to turn away from toxic relationships and to attract healthy ones.

Month Three: Get Your Financial Life in Order

Now that you’ve taken charge of your health and your social life, it’s time to turn your new focus and determination towards your financial life. Start by writing out your monthly expenses and coming up with a total. Then, write down everything you want to do or to own over the next year, write down the total cost and come up with the monthly amount you’ll need to earn in order to fulfill those goals.

Once you have this goal sheet together, tape it to your bathroom mirror where you can see it every morning and every evening. At the top of the sheet, write the question:

“What must I believe and what must I do in order to reach this goal?”

Don’t worry if you won’t have the answers right away. Just keep asking the question and let your subconscious mind do the work. Ask it out loud every morning and every evening, just after saying your two daily affirmations.

The answers to this question should start to come by the end of the 30 days; they’ll come in the form of action steps or flashes of inspiration. When they do, get started on them as soon as possible, even if you have to take baby steps.

That’s the simple “I want to change my life” 90 day Challenge.

Don’t wait to make tomorrow day one. Get started while you’re still pumped up about it. Go to the mirror right now and say your daily affirmation, then do your one minute of exercise.

Your life is waiting…
